Brio Retirement Living has announced it will open areas of its development at Landale Court in Chapelton as a ‘Warm Hub’ this winter – helping local people in need of warmth or companionship.
Warm Hubs aim to support local people who may be at risk of fuel poverty or may be feeling lonely or isolated. A Warm Hub can be any community building and will provide a warm and friendly environment for people to socialise over refreshments and take part in activities.
Brio will open doors during set days and times from 1st November 2022, inviting local people over 65 to come inside and stay warm as well as providing information on heating their own homes more efficiently and other local support services.
Places for People’s Karl Hallows is Director of Operations at Brio and said: “People across Aberdeenshire – in particular older people – are facing high fuel bills and the prospect of not being able to stay warm. It’s a dreadful position to be in and we want to help as many people as we can in and around our Brio communities.
‘We want to offer respite and ensure this demographic has somewhere that’s not only safe and warm, but somewhere in which they can socialise and enjoy their time.
“There is much to feel sad about in the world right now and we want to counter that with this positive initiative; we will host events and other activities at our developments too, helping give people things to look forward to in the coming months.”
Landale Court is an age-exclusive community, situated on a beautiful stretch of Aberdeenshire coastline. At the heart of a thriving village, this integrated retirement community features 72 brand new homes consisting of one and two-bedroom bungalows, cottages and apartments. The homes are available to a range of customers and are available to rent, part buy/part rent or to buy; they have been expertly designed for customers over the age of 65 with well-designed quality kitchens and bathrooms, room layouts that promote space and natural light. Outside, homeowners benefit from great amenities including the neighbourhood green, fire pit den, quiet garden as well as The Hub – the social heartbeat of the community filled with a hobby room, fitness studio, club room and the Slate & Grain brasserie, bar and coffee lounge – the location of the Warm Hub.

Landale Court will open its doors every Wednesday and Thursday from 10am till 4pm starting on the 2nd November 22.
Soup and a roll will be made available and charged at £1. In additional, coffee and tea will also be available and again charged at £1 each.
