Brio Retirement Living – part of Places for People - has welcomed retirement living expert Julie Shaw to its team at Button House in Hackbridge.
Joining her dedicated colleagues as a senior sales advisor, Julie brings a wealth of professional and personal knowledge to the role with previous experience in housing healthcare and retirement living roles.
Julie, 53 and from Crawley, shared: “Button House is a fabulous addition to the area, and I am delighted to be a part of such a fantastic company. I have extensive experience in housing as I previously owned an estate agency in the local area, and in healthcare as my most recent position was at an over 65s retirement living development, are now combined into the perfect role here at Button House.
“Personally, both my mother and grandmother were widows and I wish they’d had the opportunity to be homeowners at a place like Button House – both would have embraced the companionship and ease of lifestyle that Brio Retirement Living offers. Button House raises the bar for retirement living, with great design and top-class surroundings that allow customers to live independently but with the benefit of support on offer as it is needed. I don’t think there is a better place to retire around here.”
Button House boasts a new collection of 80 stylish assisted living apartments, situated over four floors, all accessible by lift and stairs. The integrated retirement community features a range of beautiful one and two-bedroom homes all suitably designed for those over the age of 65. Each home comes with a private and spacious balcony, plus a range of exciting onsite facilities including a fitness studio, the exclusive Slate & Grain brasserie, bar and coffee lounge, hobby room, guest suite, a community hub and more, and homeowners can shirk their domestic responsibilities, with cleaning, laundry and pet sitting services that free up time for doing the fun things in life.
Julie continued: “I’m very passionate about what modern retirement living offers – it embraces independence but with peace of mind for both the homeowners and their families. I love building a rapport with our customers and can really empathise as to why people want to embrace this lifestyle – this is the most rewarding part of my job and I look forward to having great relationships with our owners and ensuring they enjoy the fabulous lifestyle Button House has on offer.”
Outside of work Julie is an avid runner and keen gym goer, she has three children who, along with her Yorkshire Terrier Teddy, keep her active. She concludes: “Life is for living and I love hearing all about my client’s retirement plans – building a trusting relationship with them means a lot to me and it’s why I love working at Button House.”
Julie is responsible for liaising with customers from their initial enquiry, to being a friendly face for when they’re settled in their new homes.
Places for People’s Director of Operations at Brio Retirement Living, Karl Hallows said: “The appointment of Julie is a welcome boost to our team and importantly, for those moving to Button House. As we continue to welcome homeowners’, the demand on our service continues to increase along with our engagement programme in exploring how best they wish to live life their way! The team at Button House are already engaging with the wider community of Hackbridge – whilst providing a fully integrated retirement community, working with homeowners’ and ensuring customer satisfaction is placed at the heart of all decision making.”
Button House is located within the New Quarter Mill development and is set to welcome more homeowners later this month. A flexible care and support package is available 24/7 should homeowners need it, meaning every second of life can be enjoyed without worry.
Karl concluded: “The provision of support, care, coupled with our communities safe and secure settings, gives our customers and their families peace of mind. Relatives know that their loved ones are having fun, meeting new people, but equally can be looked after should they need any help.”

Many people will be spending Christmas on their own this year – either by choice or as the result of circumstances beyond their control. For some, the prospect of being alone on Christmas Day is rather daunting. But it doesn’t have to be.
