Mealtimes are an important part of daily life at our retirement villages. Our on-site Slate & Grain brasserie and bar offers a relaxing and social space for homeowners to share a meal, as our chefs use fresh and seasonal ingredients to provide a range of delicious meals daily.
We support our homeowners to eat and drink well so they remain well-nourished and healthy, and this has never been more important then it is at the moment.
Due to COVID-19 we have had to close our on-site brasseries to ensure the safety of both our staff and homeowners, however we continue to provide up to three meals a day to those homeowners who do require some additional help with meal times.
Our Operations Director, Morag Stark tells us, “For those homeowners within our communities that do require help with meals, we have trusted caterers in place at the moment who are providing a range of healthy meals for homeowners to enjoy within their own homes. Our on-site Concierge teams are safely delivering meals directly to residents and are also making sure those who are more vulnerable have had enough fluid intake throughout the day too.”
We have a big objective to ensure the meals we provide meet our homeowners' expectations, as Morag explains, “We cater for all types of dietary needs, and consult with homeowners regularly to understand not only their preferences but their nutritional requirements as well. Making sure people within our communities are fed well but also enjoying their mealtimes is so important, and the service is available to anybody who may need it”
One of our homeowners, who lives at our Landale Court community in Chapelton, has found the service a great help, she says, “I’m enjoying the food very much, and the team have been fantastic in ensuring I get the types of meals that I like.”
Morag is also keen to ensure homeowners have social contact with others where possible, “The coffee machines within the brasseries are also still in operation and some of our homeowners have been enjoying a coffee and a chat with the on-site teams, with physical distancing measures in place. It’s a small daily routine that has helped to maintain those all- important social connections”
We offer a range of dining packages available within all communities, and under normal circumstances homeowners can come and enjoy the Brasserie at mealtimes or we can deliver via our S&G home delivery service; packages are flexible and can be arranged to suit individual needs. Residents are also welcome to visit Slate & Grain on an ad-hoc basis and if you want to invite family and friends to dine with you, you can make table bookings via the Brio App, or with the on-site Concierge team. All homeowners receive a 20% discount on the published menu prices, providing additional value for money.

Morag continues “We are very much looking forward to re-opening our on-site brasseries when it is safe to do so, they are vibrant and welcoming spaces that are enjoyed by both our homeowners and the wider communities. But for now, our wonderful on-site teams will continue to ensure homeowners remain happy, healthy and well-fed from the comfort of their own homes” .
