Biophelia means ‘a love of nature’, but it’s also a design concept that’s dominating the layout of new communities.
Adopted by architects who connect living spaces with nature, it can result in calm places which evoke wellness; it’s also something we promote at our Brio communities, each with an abundance of green space for homeowners to enjoy. Here, our Head of Care Kelda Fasasi tells us more…
“Our customers have a strong connection to the outdoors,” says Kelda Fasasi, Brio’s Head of Care, “But they’ve reached a point in their lives where they just don’t want to tend to vast gardens any more – looking instead to other ways to enjoy green space.”
Biophelia is an integral concept for most contemporary developers – with Brio no exception. It’s a consideration for all things green; examples of this you’ll find in Brio communities include private outdoor spaces with most homes, as well as beautiful landscaped communal gardens around each site.
“This layout offers the best of both worlds,” continues Kelda. “The private garden spaces which come with some of our Brio homes are great for those with green fingers who want to cultivate their own space – without it being too vast and unmanageable.
“Similarly, the serene landscapes which surround our communities are beautiful places to walk around, while growing gardens mean residents can get involved in nurturing their own vegetables. We’ve tried to create every type of green space which residents can enjoy – without worrying about constantly looking after them.”
A love for green space is extending indoors too, with foliage, plants and even green hues featuring more prominently inside our homes. And, Dulux has named its green Tranquil Dawn paint as colour of the year for 2020 too – a testament to the increasing green trends!
Our homeowners’ love of green space is also considered in the localities in which we create our communities; often found in semi-rural towns or areas within reach of the countryside, our customers don’t have to look far to unleash their love of the outdoors; “There’s lots of external space to be appreciated around Brio homes,” adds Kelda. “Our Stow-on-the-Wold community is in the Cotswolds, nestled amongst some of the country’s most outstanding green beauty spots; and even our forthcoming Brio Hackbridge community is set in fantastic landscaped grounds, providing an oasis of calm and respite from the hustle and bustle of outside”
