Brio Landale Court is opening its doors to host the Chapelton Charity 5km walk set to raise vital funds for North East Sensory Services.

The event which is part of the Chapelton Bike Ride has proved hugely successfully since it was launched in 2016 raising more than £22,000 for the charity, which promotes the needs of people with a sight or hearing loss.

Members of the Chapelton community and people from further afield are being encouraged to take part in either of the challenges, which takes place on Sunday 1 September. Cyclists can choose from two routes - either 42 miles or 12 miles.

This year the 5km walk is being sponsored by Brio Retirement Living. For those wishing to take part, the walk will begin at 12.15pm on The Lawn at Brio’s Landale Court retirement community in Chapelton and wend its way through the picturesque grounds of Elsick House, finishing back at The Lawn.

Throughout the day, participants and supporters will also be able to enjoy live music, family fun events and a great selection of stalls and entertainment on The Lawn. Landale Court’s brasserie and bar Slate & Grain will be open for people to pop in for refreshments and tasty treats, with 10% of the takings on the day being donated to NESS.

The walk is open to all, including dogs, and is free to enter. There will be collection points around the route to make donations to NESS.

Karl Hallows, Director of Development and Sales at Brio Retirement Living said: “We’re proud to be sponsoring the 5km walk which is a part of this well-loved community event, which this year promises to be even bigger and better. We hope that people of all ages will come along and join the fun, helping to raise even more money for a very worthwhile local cause.

“The day will also celebrate the opening of Brio Landale Court.  We look forward to welcoming people to our new retirement community for the first time.”

Registration for the walk is now open, for further information or to register to take part in the walk, please register here.

Registration closes on 31st August 2019.
