Get back to nature this spring

Spring is on its way and as we enjoy the start of lighter, brighter days, it's a great reminder of just how important outdoor space is to our health and happiness.

It’s little wonder that having a garden or outdoor space is so important to members of our communities. It’s long been understood that there’s a positive relationship between green space and our wellbeing.

So, as we welcome the coming of spring, we’ve been exploring ways to help you make the most of the space outside your back door.

Here are our top tips…

1. Get growing

There's a wealth of advice online to give you all the information you need to bring some life to your outdoor space.

If you're able to, why not pop along to your local garden centre and speak with the experts who can tell you all about the best plants to keep your garden looking lush throughout the year? Good Housekeeping recommends False Indigo, Phlox and Lupines.

2. Go faux

If you’re not particularly green fingered or prefer not to have the worry having to tend to your plants, try looking into the increasingly popular trend of going ‘faux’.

False plants aren’t what they used to be. They look far more realistic and far less plastic than in days gone by. Plus, you don’t have to lift a non-green finger to keep them looking good! It’s a trend that’s definitely worth researching.

3. Create a cover-up

We’ve had to do much socialising with our loved ones outdoors in recent times so it's little wonder that many people are looking to invest in a covered area in their garden.

There are a few options here depending on budget – awnings can be professionally fitted to your home, or for a more elaborate investment take a look at pergolas and pagodas.

4. Flex your green space

How about creating an outdoor gym? A space in which you can get some daily exercise safely. There’s plenty of outdoor equipment on the market now.

If you're looking for a new beginning this spring in a welcoming, age-exclusive community, we can help. From modern cottages and bungalows to spacious apartments, all set within beautiful landscaped surroundings, our homes offer plenty of natural light, outdoor space and all the room you could possibly need to enjoy your retirement years.
