Brio appoints Clayton and Co to design stylish retirement homes at Beechwood Park

Brio Retirement Living – part of Places for People – has appointed one of the UK's leading interior design companies, Clayton and Co, to design the stylish show properties at Beechwood Park in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Following an in-depth research project by the established interior design team, Rosie Crane, Business Development Manager at Clayton and Co, explains their vision behind the transformation here: “From the very start of any project, we design with the customer in mind – creating an experience for them using contrast and colour to ensure its captivating and they can visualise themselves living there. Working with Brio Retirement Living’s team and their Director of Operations Karl Hallows, the emphasis for the scheme was to deliver a contemporary design that felt fresh and vibrant, colourful yet considered – exactly the type of brief we love to work with. Karl was also keen for us to reference the beautiful Cotswold surroundings, and to ensure the interior design appealed to both the homeowners and their families, who are key in the decision-making process.

“We spent a day exploring the area - talking to local people and really delving into what makes them tick - I really wanted to work out exactly who would be visiting the show home. The town centre is so charming and warm – I understood straight away why people love living here, and their feedback on Beechwood Park was key to my inspiration – that customers here are keen to retire in style, live close to their children and enjoy the beauty of the Cotswolds literally on their doorstep.”

Rosie took inspiration from Beechwood Park’s immediate surroundings too – including the vast woodland and green landscapes – ensuring nature was weaved into the internal design with a focus on green hues.

“We installed stylish patterned and textured wallpaper into the rooms – creating a focal point” explained Rosie, “we also use furniture pieces that buyers can easily replicate by purchasing from high street stores, this means that show home viewers can easily find similar products to use in their own properties. We’ve completed three properties so far – two apartments and a bungalow – and although very different in style, they are cohesive and in keeping with the development.”

Clayton and Co embraced abstract artwork, on-trend light fittings, practical yet stylish furnishings in an array of textures, including solid wood pieces to add an element of luxury. The living spaces have been designed to ensure entertaining guests is easy and practical – whilst being modern, light and airy for the homeowners to enjoy on a daily basis.
